A morning routine should give you energy and direction, not become another performance to optimize. Start with three anchors and keep the rest flexible.
Anchor 1: Light
Ten minutes of daylight in the first hour helps set your body clock. A short walk or breakfast by a window is enough.
Anchor 2: Water and protein
Hydrate first, then eat something with protein. It stabilizes appetite and makes the mid-morning vending machine less appealing.
Anchor 3: One priority
Before opening messages, write down the one thing that would make the day feel successful. That is your plan; everything else is a bonus.
Keep it boring
The best routine is the one you can repeat on a bad day. Build a five-minute version and use it when time or motivation is short.
